INFO HAIRPIN ROBBERY. San Francisco Call, 19 Feb 1895. "A Smart Capture. C.W. Moyne, alias Frank Bettin, was booked at the City Prison last night on the charge of grand larceny. Mrs. Richard Farmar of 1713 Stockton street was walking along Turk street to meet her husband, and when near Mason street Moyne grabbed a silver hairpin out of her hair. His action was observed by a citizen, who notified Policeman T. F. Conway. When Conway arrested him he attempted to break away from him, but Conway clapped the handcuffs on him. At the prison the silver hairpin was found inside his shirt sleeve. Moyne is a tall, slouchy young fellow and has followed a seafaring life." (SFCallCDN.)
