INFO DODSON FAMILY HISTORY in Rapaura district. Frederick Tuckett Dodson and Alice Catherine Robinson had three children: Mona Sara, Clifford George and Frederick Harman [sic]. The elder Fred "...was educated at Upper Spring Creek (Rapaura) and Nelson College. From his father, George, he bought Awarua (section 62, 150 acres) and was, it is believed, the first to reside on it. He carried on the work of developing the farm... . He took a keen interest in sport and was a prominent member of the Marlborough Hunt and president of the Awarua Football Club, as well as being a member of the Land and Railway League, farmers Union and Spring Creek Roads Board. Frederick died aged 43, leaving a widow and young family. His son Frederick Harman Dodson, who was the next owner of Awarua, was then only six weeks old. (RapauraHist, p.16-17.)
