INFO TITHE AWARD SCHEDULE. Ringwould Tithe Award Schedule, abt 1841 (from website of Kent Archaeological Society). John Bradley is listed as both owner and occupier of approx. 40 properties in Ringwould, including three homesteads, barn and pasture, a dissenting chapel, an orchard and garden, pasture land, and 28 parcels of arable land. He is also owner of both arable land and pasture land occupied by Thomas Tucker, a garden occupied by William Redman, 3 tenements occupied by Henry Drew, Thomas Friend & James Lemman, 2 tenements occupied by Richard Dixon & William Mount, 2 Tenements occupied by Richard Brown & James Smith, and a Cottage occupied by Edward Hopper. John Broadley is the occupier of arable land owned by George Stanley Parker and also by Mary Thomas. INFO DIRECTORY Bagshaw, 1847, shows John Broadley is a landowner in Ringwold [sic] Parish and is listed as a "gentleman". Major landowner and lord of the manor is the rector Rev. John Monins. (Bagshaw1847, pp.252-53.) 
INFO WILL MADE 19 Oct 1847. Proved 3 Jun 1848. Will of John Broadley, the elder of Ringwould, yeoman. SUMMARY: Bequests --1) to Stephen Chalk of Dover, gentleman, and Edward Parker of Mongeham, blacksmith, "one annuity or clear yearly rent of Fifty Pounds" from his "Freehold Farm and Lands situate in the several Parishes of Ringwould aforesaid Sutton next Dover and Word [Worth] next Sandwich … now in the possession of my son William Broadley" to be paid to son Stephen Broadley in quarterly payments on 6 Jan, 6 Apr, 6 July and 11 Oct for Stephen's "maintenance and support" --2) to William Harvey of Elmtone [Elmstone] in the Parish of Eythorne, farmer, and George Stanley Parker of Ringwould, farmer, the responsibility to act as trustees for the properties occupied by son William Broadley. Son William is to pay rent for the properties to the trustees and to maintain the properties. --3) after the decease of William or if William declines to use and occupy and maintain the properties during his lifetime, the trustees shall permit son John Broadley to use and occupy the properties. --4) the same conditions in succession for son Thomas Broadley, and then for son Edward Broadley. If none of them wants to use and occupy the farms, the trustees shall rent the properties and divide the proceeds equally among the sons William, John, Thomas and Edward until they are all deceased. --5) after the decease of sons William, John, Thomas, and Edward, the income shall be given in equal shares to John's grandsons who are sons of John's sons William, John, Thomas, or Edward and who are over the age of twenty-one. If there are no such grandsons, then the income shall benefit all grandchildren, namely the children of daughter Mary, the wife of John Harvey, and of the aforementioned four sons. (Always reserving the £50 annual payment for son Stephen). Farms and lands may be sold by the trustees at the request of the heirs and the money invested in funds or securities.
