May 16 1832 My Brother Edward Eatton sailed for Amer[ica] May the Lord preserve him in safety this is your Aunt Smith Writing. 1832 We Left Maidstone on the 9 of May for London and went on Board on the 12 and Sailed Sunday 13 and Arived at Statten Island on Sunday the 24 June and landed at New York 27 June Eaton Left me at New York to Richmond at virgene on Saturday the 5 of September and was Drowned on the 19 at 4 Clock in the afternoon he fell over board it is Supposed that he was taken with gidiness in 'is head he sank to rise no more as the vessel waited 20 minutes but he never rose he was he was 37 years of Age I heard the fatal news on the 2 October I went on Board of the Sovrien for England on the 20 of October from New York and arrived in London 15 November in April following [?] 1841 I came to London to live on the 30 March."
