Born 30 Jun 1828, mar 22 Dec 1851 and two weeks later sailed on the Stag to NZ with Edward's brother [=brother-in-law. James was also Edward's first cousin] James Eaton and James' wife Maryann Deadman Eaton who was Emily's sister. Edward b. 1827, son of Daw Eaton of Tovill-Maidstone Kent, Latin & Greek scholar, architecture student, carpenter (in 1850). Arr NZ 17 May 1852. On 15 June 1852 went to Wellington, arr 17 June 1852, stayed until Jan 1855. Measles and earthquakes in Wellington in 1852. Son Edw. Augustus "Teddy" b. 2 Sep 1852. Edw. working for Jeffreys. Child Henry James Deadman (Jim) b. 10 May 1854. Oct-Nov 1854 Edward preparing to move to Wairarapa. 8 Jan 1855 left Wellington; 13 Jan arrived Masterton. 30 Jan 1855 earthquake. House finished later "Ivy Cottage". 1848 Emily's father died. 1857 her mother to NZ. July 1857 Edward's brother James & wife Maryann her sister moved to Melbourne. 2 Aug 1857 dtr Emily baptized. Next two children Maryann & William. 1863 moved to Dunedin. Son Samuel Pearce born there. Jim & Emily died from scarlet fever. William of diphtheria. Four more children: Alfred Freemantle, Ellen Jane, Percy Seymour and baby who died. Emily's mother d.1871, 1874 Maryann d. in Melbourne.
