| INFO | AUTO ACCIDENT. Reported in the Evening Post [Wellington, N.Z.] 13 Nov 1939, p.9. Five Injured. Car and truck collide. Christchurch. "Five persons were injured when a car and a truck collided on the corner of Timaru road and Deep Stream road near Waimate yesterday morning. Three women passengers in the truck were taken to hospital, one, Mrs. W. Barbour, of Hook, being seriously injured. The accident happened about 10.30 a.m., when Lionel Egbert Eaton, an accountant, of Timaru, who had visited Waimate on business in the morining, was returning to Timaru. Travelling alone on the Timaru road, his car came into collision with the light half-ton truck, driven by James William Barbour, a honey farmer, of Hook, striking the truck on the right side near the driver's seat when it came from the Deep Stream road. Mrs. Kate Watts was in the cab of the truck with the driver, and his mother, Mrs. Barbour, and Mrs. H.J. Arbuckle were in the bacck. Both men suffered cuts and abrasions. . . . (EvenPostDig.) |
