INFO | NEWSPAPER CHILDREN'S LETTERS. The Albury Banner and Wodonga Express. Letters to Uncle Jeff. 4 Dec 1931. "Mona Heard, Bellarwi, via Barmedman--This is my first letter to the "Banner," and I wish to be one of your many nieces. The garden is looking well now with all the flowers out in bloom. We have about 60 little turkeys and a hen with 12 chickens. We have two pups and a lamb. Would you please give me names for them? There are four of us going to school. We go to Bellarwi public school. We have five miles to go by a horse and sulky. My brother , Charlie, and five others, went for the primary final on 19th inst., and I hope he gets on very well. Our teacher's name is Mr. Breakspear. We have a little baby sister; she was born on Mothers' Day. She is six months of age; her name is Norma May. I think we have finished cutting hay. We have not started to cart yet. Dad is getting the harvester ready to commence harvesting. We are milking 10 cows. We are going in for dairying and we send 15 gallons of cream away each week to the Cootamundra butter factory." [Concludes with comments by columnist Uncle Jeff]. (AlbWodongaTro 4 Dec 1931, p.21.) |
