Note NOTE: regarding Emma's death. Emma's daughter Jessie told her family that her mother Emma died in childbirth in Ceylon (Jessie's birth). It is possible that Emma did not die immediately, but survived at least until the baptism of her daughter Jessie on 22 April 1869 (since Emma is not listed as deceased on the baptismal record).
