DeathJessie Myhill Worthington died 28 December 1907 in Blenheim, Marlborough, New Zealand. 
INFO DEATH ACCIDENT STORY. 30 Dec 1907. Death occurred Sat afternoon. Several women & chidlren went to Opawa River for bathing, one-half mile from F.W.Dodson's aerated water factory on Herbert Street. Went to deep hole to swim, about sixty feet wide. Rona Farmar, age 17, swam across and called to Zita Shaw, age 12, to come. When Zita needed assistance, Rona and Mrs. Farmar went to her, but Mrs. Shaw had already reached her and moved her toward shore. Rona and Mrs. Farmar both got into difficulty and were carried downstream in the swift current. Ms. Shaw was unable to save Rona and Mrs. Farmar or her own daughter who had not regained her footing and was also drowned. The remaining party members ran to the aerated water factory for help. Group included Gerald and Norman Nairn, aged 12 and 10 and also Hilda Farmar. The three bodies were recovered within 40 minutes. An inquest was held at Mrs. Frank Shaw's residence on Herbert Street Sunday morning. Verdict was death by accidental drowning. Funeral held Sunday afternoon. Jessie and Rona Farmar were buried in the Protestant Cemetery at Omaka. (MarlExpress, 30 Dec 1907, p. 5cde) NOTE: The story of this accident was carried by numerous newspapers across New Zealand.
